Born in 1982, lives and works in Berlin and Vienna.
The body in its social context serves as a base for Stengele`s work. In her staged photographs and performances – which she herself refers to as "participatory art" – she often deals with subjects such as interpersonal relationships, closeness/distance, limits/overcoming and (female) body images and cultural role models.
Since 2007, Stengele participated in various exhibitions in Germany and Canada with her photographic works and presented her performances internationally, including Mexico, Poland and the USA. In 2009, she founded the "Bureau for Bodily Affairs" (Amt für Körperschaften) – a curatorial project, which is devoted to artistic positions that require a physical expression. Moreover, she participates since 2003 as a model in the work of other artists and organises exhibitions and art projects.
